Info For Seniors: County Seniors Centre plans open house events

The upcoming open house events will provide an opportunity for seniors to stop in and ask questions about the County Seniors Centre, give suggestions on new programs, enjoy refreshments, and socialize.

Stop in to the Bloomfield Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 9 from 1-3 p.m. We’ll be at the Athol Town Hall on Monday, Nov. 12 from 1-3 p.m and in North Marysburgh Town Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. until noon.. You’re welcome to come and see us at the Sophiasburgh Town Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon. We’ll have the coffee on at the Wellington Town Hall on Friday, Nov. 16 from 1-3 p.m.. We’re in South Marysburgh at the Milford Town Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 21st from 1-3 p.m. We’re hoping to meet with seniors and to hear your ideas.

Know your prescription

An upcoming seminar for will provide information on topics such as how medications affect seniors, tips on how to safely take your medication and how to be prepared in case of an emergency. This seminar will take place in the Athol Town Hall on Monday, Nov. 12 Pronica Janikowski, a licensed pharmacist, board certified geriatric pharmacist and former Chair and board member of the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy. There will be a question-and-answer session to follow as well as refreshments. This is a free event offered by the County Seniors Centre. Call 613-476-7493 to register for the seminar.

Wellington luncheon social

Come on out and enjoy lunch with old and new friends on Wednesday Nov. 14 at noon in Wellington. The menu features food from Germany for $10 per person. Following the luncheon there will be a presentation by Tod Lavender from Ainsworth Funeral Home about being prepared for when a person dies. Reserve by the Tuesday prior at noon by calling 613-476-7493. Take-out & delivery available.

Hearing help clinic

The Canadian Hearing Society regularly holds free hearing help clinics at the Community Care office in Picton. This is your chance to have a Hearing care counsellor answer your questions about hearing loss, give information about hearing health care, provide communication strategies for hearing loss, do hearing screening, provide tips for hearing aid maintenance and demonstrate technical devices. The next Hearing Help Clinic is on Friday, November 16. All seniors are invited to call 613-476-7493 to schedule a free half-hour appointment.
