Merton Doriel Craig
It is with love and treasured memories the family of Merton Doriel Craig announce his passing at Hallowell House on Wednesday March 6, 2019 following a stay in PEC Memorial Hospital. He was married in 1949 to Geraldine ‘Gerry’ Yardley. Father of Joanne (Dana) Vader, Sandra (Kevin) Hicks and Doug (Barb) Craig. Merton was predeceased by his eldest daughter Diane (Roy Blower), his parents Kenneth and Mae (nee Wannamaker) Craig and brothers Vernon, Norman, Oakley and Floyd. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Kelly, Bradley, Natalie, Jason, Korinne, Chrissa, Brittany, Melissa and Michael, son-in-law Roy and Debbie Blower. Great-grandfather of 18. Merton enjoyed hunting and fishing and as long as health permitted, a yearly trip to northern Ontario moose hunting as well as to deer hunting camp. Merton belonged to the I.V.O.E. and was a Hoisting Engineer with H.J.McFarland Construction Company and Wimpey’s prior to moving to Ridge Rd. in 2003. He owned a small farm for 40 years at West Lake. A special thank you to all who visited Merton at hospital and Hallowell House and for the kind care received from all staff, to Dr. Koval, Dr. Wattam, Dr. Johannsson and Mary Stever, to Hicks Funeral Home for kind and efficient service and to Pastor Danny Smith for encouraging visits. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Merton’s life will be held later in the spring.
