There will be a monthly Stroke Support Group for residents of Prince Edward County.
A partnership between Community Care for South Hastings (CCSH) and The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association has recognized the need for (and will now offer a once a month) a two hour stroke support group.
The group will be organized by staff from CCSH.
This monthly peer support group will be led by a trained facilitator specializing in stroke support who will connect stroke survivors and their caregivers with others affected by this traumatic life event.
The group will look at the latest in stroke care and will have on hand updated stroke community resource information.
As a stroke survivor, it doesn’t matter where you are along your stroke recovery journey.
The CCSH staff say they welcome those who have “come out into their real world after hospital, or it may be it is two – or more – years later when they discover that they will not make a ‘full’ recovery”.
Joining the group is about getting and staying connected with people who understand where you’re at; what you’ve been through and what you’re going through, and the organizers hope they can help make the next months and years a little easier.
Attend the upcoming Stroke Awareness Day on Wed. June 12th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre .
To sign up for this group or for more information call CCSH at 613-969-0130.
