LOUDEN, Kathleen Bernice (nee Gilbert)

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kathy Louden, of Picton, at the Belleville General Hospital on Sunday, May 17th, 2020 in her 79th year. Much loved wife of 60 years to Raymond Louden. Proud mother to Steve Louden, Trish Blanchard (Phil) and Karen Louden. Adored by her grandchild, Madison Blanchard, and her pets, Shadow, Oscar, Sammy, and grand-pups Bailey, Micha and Amy. Kathy is also survived by her brothers David Gilbert, John Gilbert and her sister Margaret Wyton, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by siblings Doris Flint, Rose Sturgess, Edward (Tedd) Gilbert and Georgina Cartlidge. Kathy was born in Toronto, and raised her family in Scarborough (with many summers spent in Haliburton and Wooler), before fulfilling her dream of moving to Picton and running a successful bed and breakfast. She was a lifelong volunteer, including for many years with Alzheimer’s patients with her beloved dog Nora, and passed on her love of animals to her children. She loved taking her dogs for walks, nature, gardening and reading. She was a best friend, confidant, mentor and continued source of guidance and support to her children and grandchild to the end. She was classy, completely selfless, hardworking, funny, devoted, patient and kind. She gave so much to everybody she met and her loss to this world, and especially her family, is profound. In keeping with her wishes, cremation arrangements have been made with the BELLEVILLE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL LTD. 68 N. Front St. Belleville (613-968-5080). A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Loyalist Humane Society, Quinte Humane Society or Fixed Fur Life are appreciated.
