WALKER, Karen Ann

It is with heartfelt grief that the family of Karen Ann Walker of Consecon Ontario announces her passing at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Karen, surrounded by family, passed peacefully on Thursday June 18th at 4:35pm. Karen was born at home in Brantford ON on 19 August 1941 to proud parents Harold and Alma (Hartley) Plumridge. She married her high school sweetheart Gerald Lloyd Walker on April 8th1961, and joyfully began a family with the births of two sons, Stephen Blake (June 1963), and Kenneth Blair (September 1965). Due to Gerry being in the RCAF, Karen had huge adjustments to make from hometown gal to the demands placed on Air Force wives. Preparing for moves to Ottawa, Edmonton, Bagotville Que, Bracknell England, Lahr Germany, Mons Belgium, Baldy Hughes BC, Oklahoma City, and finally RCAF Stn Trenton.  Arriving at each location and facing the daunting tasks of finding accommodation, unpacking, and more importantly making a HOME. Doctors, Dentist, and school enrolments then followed while often exposed to a foreign language, customs, and protocols. When posted out of Country, Karen represented Canada with great pride and charm. Loving wife of Gerald for 59 years and devoted mother of Stephen and Blair (Margaret), proud Nana to Sarah (Andrew), Katelyn Ann (Jordan), and Alexander, and great grandma to Avery Ann. Fondly remembered by sister Gail (Gord) and sister-in-law Janice. Aunt to Kimberly, Michael (Jennifer), Leigh (Guy), Gerry (Heather), and Jamie (Shawna). Karen will also be missed by her best little companion, Scruffy. Visitation will be held at Weaver Life Centre, 29 Bay Street, Trenton on Friday June 26th from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Due to COVID – 19 we are operating with restrictions so those attending visitation are asked to call (613)394-2433 in advance of attending and are asked to wait in vehicles in parking lot until directed to come in. Everyone entering the facilities are required to wear a mask. A private funeral service will be held on Saturday June 27th at Weaver Life Centre, 29 Bay Street, Trenton, with interment following at the Carrying Place Cemetery Annex. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.  Special thanks and recognition to the very compassionate doctors and nurses at Trenton Memorial Hospital, as well as the many other QHC medical staff and personal support workers who aided in her care, especially in these most challenging times.
