McNAUGHTON, David Hugh

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of David, age 84, on Saturday, November 7th, 2020. Son of the late Lewis and Hilda McNaughton (nee Schnarr).  Beloved husband of the late Nancy McNaughton (nee Gold). Loving father of Jennifer McNaughton, of Toronto, and David McNaughton (Jana), of Burlington. Proud grand-father of Megan and Emily. David grew up in Preston, Ontario, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University in 1957. He and Nancy met through mutual friends in Montreal and married in 1961. David enjoyed his many roles in the telecommunications industry, working for Bell Canada, Bell-Northern Research and Nortel Networks. As their careers flourished, he and Nancy moved their family from Ottawa to Mississauga and, in 1976, to Prince Edward County. David actively volunteered with many organizations including Bridge Street United Church, the Ameliasburgh Museum, St. John Ambulance – Therapy Dogs Services (with Taffy & Sarah, his beloved golden retrievers), and the Probus Club of Quinte. Many will remember his love of trains and his vast collection of model railway cars. HIs garden railway layouts delighted children and adults alike. David loved to travel and enjoyed adventures with Nancy all over the world. Our family thanks the staff & residents of Quinte Gardens for their friendship and support. Inurnment took place on November 20th, with a small family gathering at Belleville Cemetery.
