The skies over south Picton are sure to look interesting on Friday evening and if you happen to see a quick moving flashes of light, those beams can be explained. So no need to call CFB Trenton, CSIS or the National Enquirer.

The largest swarm drone entertainment show to ever take place in Canada will be hosted Friday, April 14 at an exclusive, invite-only event at Base31.

The ground breaking event is produced by Illumin, the first fully licensed swarm drone operator in Canada.

Illumin is a Toronto-based experience company that specializes in drone light shows for festivals, sporting events, and corporate branding experiences. With top design talent and world-class aviation professionals, Illumin is taking light shows to the next level in the most exciting event space on earth: the night sky.

With the same drone technology and customized software used at the Super Bowl and the Queen’s Jubilee, Illumin’s team of aviation experts will coordinate 200 drones to paint the sky in 3D animations and times to music.

Friday’s  sneak peak event is the official kick-off for a series of public drone shows that Illumin says will deliver unforgettable, sharable and safe experiences for audiences during Base31’s festival season this summer, as well as events across Canada.

Drone light shows are a group of illuminated, synchronized drones choreographed to arrange themselves into formations in the sky.

The choreography is created by a design team, in a computer program that turns graphics into flight commands. Drone shows are executed by aviation professionals and advanced pilots with experience in aviation, federal regulations and weather.

Almost any image can be recreated as a drone light show. The more drones in the performance, the greater depth and detail to the drone formation.

According their website, Illumin’s team of aviation professionals have built and managed some of the largest airlines in the world and are fully equipped to navigate the regulatory process involved with drone light show entertainment.

Illumin’s team also operates under City Hova – a remotely piloted aircraft system service provider in downtown Toronto.

After 20 years of forming successful airline ventures together, the Illumin team has built the trust, expertise, and experience required to deliver excellent results to their clients. Not only are they highly technical, but they understand what it takes to introduce new aviation technology to the market, which will be invaluable as drone swarming grows in popularity.
