The Prince Edward OPP reports a drug bust in Sophiasburgh last Wednesday has taken $100,000 worth of dried marijuana off the streets.
Officers from the local police detachment executed a search warrant at a Bethel Road residence with assistance from the OPP’s tactical and emergency response units and its community street crime unit.
As a result of the operation, which saw the seizure of the drugs and other evidence of drug trafficking, police charged a 54-year-old Sophiasburgh man with possession for the purpose of trafficking, production of a Schedule 2 controlled substance, and numerous firearms-related offences. He was held for a bail hearing at Belleville’s Ontario Court of Justice.
