Info For Seniors: Two special presentations at fire hall March 20

Seniors are invited to enjoy two informative presentations, a tour of the Picton Fire Hall, refreshments and a social time. We have arranged an event for Tuesday, March 20. This is an opportunity for seniors to get to know your emergency service providers and to attend a presentation on what seniors need to know about fire prevention and EMS.

EMS chief Doug Socha from Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services will discuss the movement towards a more proactive service that includes community paramedicine. Mike Branscombe, the fire prevention officer from the Prince Edward County fire department, will talk about fire safety and what seniors need to know when creating an escape plan.

This free talk will be followed by a tour of the fire station. Refreshments will be served as well and there will be lots of time to ask questions. The event will be held on Tuesday, March 20 from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Fire Station, 8 McDonald Drive, Picton. There is limited parking at this location and seniors are encouraged to use the free transportation that is being made available for this occasion.

Pre-registration is required for this event as space is limited. For information, to register, or to arrange for the free transportation call 613-476-7493. The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association is partnering with the Prince Edward County fire department and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services (EMS) to make this event available to seniors. This presentation is part of a project funded by the Retired Teachers of Ontario Foundation.
