Linda Jean Heffernan
January 22, 1945 – September 19, 2018
Died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 73 at May Court Hospice in Ottawa. Linda was born in Prince Edward County to Havelock and Edith Roblin and always described herself as a “girl from Bloomfield” at heart, no matter where life took her. At 17, Linda left home for the bright lights of Toronto to pursue hairstyling and later settled in Peterborough with former husband Paul Heffernan to raise their three children. In midlife she completed a degree at Trent University, spending a year of her studies in Granada, Spain, to master Spanish. Following a post-graduate program at Humber College, Linda’s second career was as an international trade specialist with the Council of Great Lakes Governors in Toronto. In retirement she was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Good Companions Centre in Ottawa. Throughout her life, she was an avid birdwatcher, lover of nature, voracious reader, choir singer, and dedicated genealogist. She fondly remem-bered her many trips to Cuba and the people she knew there. Linda will be dearly missed by her children Chris (Danielle), Michael (Natasha), and Jeanne (David), as well as her grand-children Mackenzi, Lucas, Sidny, and Rebecca. She is survived by her brother Gerald (Lisa) and sister Barbara (Clarence). A celebration of Linda’s life will be held from 1:30-3:30pm on Saturday, November 3rd in The Gathering Room at The Mount Community Centre at 1545 Monaghan Road in Peterborough.
