Dance gala hosted at the Regent Oct. 26-27

The former Muskoka Ballet Gala held at the Orillia Opera House has a new home in Prince Edward County.

Held for the past 25 years in cottage country, Brenda Cunningham of the County School of Dance is bringing what is now being called the National Junior Choreographer’s Gala closer to home.

On Oct. 26 and 27, some of the best young dancers in Canada will be preforming a program of contemporary and classical dance that is 80 per choreographed by students age 12-17,

Both local dancers and students from across the province will participate with awards and scholarships presented at the conclusion of the Sat. Oct. 27 performance.

Additionally, workshops and competition can be views between 12-7 p.m. both days of the performance for any donation at the door.

All funds raised rom this event goes to scholarships for arts education for local County children.

Next weekend’s event is being dedicated to the memory of Quinte Ballet Student and county resident Sara Holton who was lost in a tragic accident on Sept.23

The fund will announce the endowment of a new annual scholarship in Sara’s name at the Saturday gala.

Tickets are available at the Regent Theatre box office and all tickets (general admission) are $20 plus taxes.
