Seniors who need help with light and housekeeping, heavy housecleaning, laundry, meal preparation, et cetera can arrange for carefully screened workers to come to the home for a reasonable fee.
Spring is a time when many people look forward to getting out in their gardens and working on their lawn. If you see your lawn and garden as a burden then spring might not be bringing you bright and happy thoughts. Before you think about moving to an apartment so you can leave your lawns and gardens behind, think about calling our office for some help. Community Care has a home maintenance program for seniors that offers screened workers who will do yardwork, grass cutting, gardening and other outside work.
Community Care does the legwork by interviewing these home workers, checking references and performing police checks. Seniors can be confident that this has been done and can arrange the time and date that a home worker will help.
The inside and outside home workers do this work for reasonable rates. For more information on homemaking or home maintenance drop in at the Community Care office at 74A King Street, Picton or call 613-476-7493. You must be signed up as a client of Community Care to have access to these workers.
Safety in your home and in your garden is very important. The other consideration is preventing falls. The Public Health Agency of Canada has published “The Safe Living Guide—A guide to home safety for seniors” and Community Care has hard copies of this booklet available in our office at 74A King Street in Picton.
