Police investigating acts of mischief in Point Petre area

Fishing line strung neck high along ATV trails in South Marysburgh ward

On Monday, May 6, 2019 officers with the  Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County detachment received a report of mischief along an ATV trail at Point Petre in the ward of South Marysburgh.

Further details indicated that unknown suspects strung “Spiderwire” type fishing line across the trail at various heights.

One rider was struck at chest height which caused them to be pushed back on their ATV.

No injuries were sustained due to a speed the ATV was travelling and the conditions of the trails.

Approximately five other lines were removed with several strung at neck height.

Prince Edward County OPP are urging riders to pay attention to their surroundings while on the trails and to be cautious.

Police are continuing with their investigation and are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident or if anyone has witnessed anything unusual to contact the OPP Provincial Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477(TIPS).
