Sail on down to the Picton Harbour Saturday next weekend where the first ever Picton Harbour Classic Boat Show will be taking place.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 22nd, a good cross section of mahogany boats some up to 70 years old, will be motoring in from all corners of the province as well as a number of local craft.
All boats will be in the water on display for all to see and admission will be free.
“The event is a plastics free event,” Larry Ritchie, coordinator of the Picton Harbour Classic Boat Show told the Gazette. “There will be local beer by 555 Brewery, wine by Three Dog Winery, food by the County Canteen plus local food carts, and for the kids face painting, shaved ice, plus more.”
The boat owners will be on the docks by or in their boats to answer any questions from their fellow able seaman.
There will be in-water displays from the Prince Edward County Model a Shipwrights Club, sail boats, little motorboat races and antique motors on land, and certainly something for all ages.
On Sun, June 23 there will be a cruise and flotilla of 15 boats going to Riverside Pub and Terrace in Napanee for lunch.
“It should be fun, they will all be in the water and tooting along in a convoy,” added Ritchie.
Sponsors for the event are The Picton Harbour Inn & Lighthouse Restaurant, Picton Harbour Pontoon Tours, History Lives Here Inc., Elizabeth Crombie Real Estate Team, Royal Lepage ProAlliance Realty Brokerage, Port Picton Homes and CJ Thompson Family.
The Picton Harbour Development Group Initiative is the reason behind this boat show, to bring more awareness to the harbour and get people down to the harbour as well.
Water stations will be available.
