Peacefully at Kentwood Park, with family by her side on Thursday, October 17, 2019. Elsie Sprague, formerly of Waupoos, Long Point and Cherry Valley, at the age of 102. Wife of the late John Edward Sprague. Beloved mother of Kathrine Shaw (the late Larry) of Kingston and the late George, Paul and Mikel and mother-in-law of Rita and Kathleen. Loved by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Kenneth McConnell (Barb) and the late Melvin, Doris, Wilmont, Neil and Isabel. Elsie had a true love of life, helping others and bringing joy to all who had the good fortune of meeting her. She enjoyed serving and volunteering with the Cherry Valley Women’s Institute, the Picton Fair and the Heart & Stroke Foundation, taught Sunday school, was an enthusiastic and talented painter who also enjoyed knitting, crochet and many crafts. She was a devout Christian and attended Calvary Baptist Church for many years and later Emmanuel Baptist Church. A celebration of Elsie’s life was held at the Whattam Funeral Home, 33 Main Street, Picton, on Wednesday October 23rd at 2 p.m. with visitation the hour prior. Pastor Peter Spragg officiated. Interment at Cherry Valley Cemetery.
