William James Cyril Holmes passed away at Hospice Prince Edward on Sunday, November 24th, 2019 in the company of his son Travis and his wife Linda Holmes. Bill Holmes, at the age of 65. Step-dad to Jason Boyce (Crystal) and Casey Boyce (Carl). “Grandpa Bill” to Chloe, Summer, Jet, Savanna, Chaz, Paige and Soulla. Predeceased by his parents Ray and Rita Holmes. Bill would proudly say he was a “Brampton Boy”. Raised on the family farm at Highway 10 and Derry Road, together with his parents and his siblings Jimmy, David, Lorie, Cathy, Honey and Genevieve, they created the Derry Dale Golf Course. While working at Ontario Truck Center in Oshawa, Bill met Barry Swan who introduced him to the County. He came here and never looked back. Bill made many friends through his love of golf and his community involvement. He enjoyed many toys especially his “Rat Rod” and Chevy S.S.R. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Many thanks to the hospital and hospice staff for making him feel comfortable and for enjoying his sense of humour. He really appreciated all of you! Friends may visit with the family at the Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington on Thursday, November 28th from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held in the spring of 2020.
