Investing in yourself is in your best interest.
Spending time and energy on your health, safety and wellbeing can provide a big pay-off in terms of how you feel. Becoming physically active is a guaranteed way to improve your general level of health and help you feel more energetic.
Regular activity can also help cut down on your chances of having a fall or other injury by helping you to maintain or improve balance, strength and flexibility. Being active includes everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs, gardening and shopping, as well as traditional exercise classes and sports, such as golf, tennis and swimming.
Weightlifting specifically designed for seniors is a popular and beneficial form of exercise.
Physical activity will benefit all seniors and the type of activity should be based on the interests, health status and current level of activity of the person. The best thing you can do for your health is to start moving.
Through the County Seniors Centre programming Community Care offers several gentle activity programs for people. Get involved in the indoor walking programs held in Picton & Wellington; with Fitness 4 Seniors coming up in both Picton and North Marysburgh; Rhythm Dancing Lessions; Chair Fitness; Chair Piloga; and Tai Chi for beginners and intermediate starts up in January 2020.
Think about joining the County Seniors Centre and getting involved in these and other great activities. You will have taken an important step toward improving your health.
Perhaps investing in yourself would be a good New Year’s resolution.
