FRASER, Janet Marie Gertrude

Janet Marie Gertrude Fraser
(December 30, 1934 – March 27, 2020)
Beloved Jan passed away on March 27, 2020, at her home, lovingly surrounded by her family. A gentle, generous, gracious, and wise, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Jan was deeply treasured and loved by her family and friends. Always she will be missed and cherished by her 4 children, Patricia (Peter), Shane, Darlene,  and Roger (Mary Lou); her 6 grandchildren, Stacia, Michael, Mackenzie (Arren), George (Yanni), Kathleen and Maris; nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends.  Predeceased by her son Wayne, and her husband Donald of 62 years. While raising their family in Timmins and Elliot Lake, Jan worked at Northern Telephone and National Grocers, winning many Service Representative of the year awards.  Jan always had an adventurous spirit and a great love of the outdoors. She embraced all seasons in her beautiful Northern Ontario homeland – hunting, fishing, cross country skiing and spending weekends/summers at the family cottage on Mattagami Lake. Jan’s family and friends share countless stories of her incredible cooking and her attitude “ always room at the table for everyone”. She was a generous mother to many! Her children and grandchildren loved her playful and witty nature. Jan could always be found knitting, reading, doing puzzles, playing cards or thinking up her next journey, while listening to her favourite music. She loved her travels to Ecuador, France, Switzerland, Florida and Scotland. Jan’s faith, courageous and brave nature, grounded her as she coped with many health issues. Jan was always a beacon of hope, humility and patience to her loved ones.  Mom, grandma, Auntie, trusted friend, always a beautiful “lady”,  profoundly loving and loved. Jan’s family extends deepest gratitude to the medical staff whose compassionate, competent care, supported her living at home to her last journey. Thank you Dr. Sarah Ahrul, Dr. Christie, nurses Brad and Ann. A celebration of Jan’s life will be held at a later date.
