Tweed man charged after making phoney 911 calls

Prince Edward OPP were tasked with a fraudulent 911 caller early Sunday morning with an itchy redial finger.

Shortly after 4:00 a.m., members of the Prince Edward detachment  responded to approximately 10 911 calls along County Road 3 in Ameliasburgh Ward.

These calls originated from the same individual who continued to mislead officers and, during one of these calls, a threat was made to burn down property.

Officers located the individual a while later.

Dylan Masters, 25, from Tweed, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Public mischief – 140 (1)(c)
  • Uttering threats- damage to property – 264.1(1)(b)

Prince Edward OPP would like to remind the public 911 is to be used in cases of emergency and should be used accordingly.
