Branch 78 alters Remembrance Day plans

2019 Remembrance Day ceremonies in Picton. (Jason Parks/Gazette Staff)

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, the plans for Royal Canadian Legion Branch 78 Poppy campaign and Remembrance Day have been greatly altered.

Poppy boxes will be placed at various locations in Picton from October 30 to November 11, 2020.

There will be no individual volunteers taking donations for poppies.

If you would like to purchase wreaths, please call the branch (613-476-6161) between 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm Monday to Saturday. Poppy masks will also be available. There will be no service at the United Church and no ceremony at the Cenotaph. Wreaths will be placed for you at the Cenotaph. The public is invited to stop by the Cenotaph during the day to pay their respects.

These instructions are in place to keep everyone in our community safe. We hope next year things will be back to normal.

Donations to the Poppy fund can be made out to: RCL #78 Poppy and dropped off or mailed to 21 Elks Street, Picton, ON K0K 2T0
