The library is offering technology workshops online this fall and winter. These workshops are held online using the videoconferencing software Zoom. If you have never used Zoom, we have prepared a how-to video for you. You can view it at You can also call David at (613) 476-5962 and he will help you. If you don’t have the technology you need to participate, you can use a library computer – call ahead to book your space.

The first November workshop covers Adobe Photoshop and it’s free alternative, GIMP.

Have you ever wanted to create photo art, collages, or modify your photographs? This workshop will help. Join us Wednesday, November 18 at 2 p.m. No experience is required.

The second workshop covers some essential tips for online shopping. If, like many people, you’re planning to do your holiday shopping online, we can help. Many local businesses are adding online shopping options this year, so you can support local businesses with the ease of shopping from home. This workshop will include an overview of local options plus tips for safety and shipping. Wednesday, November 25 at 2 p.m.

You can register for both workshops at

Follow us on Facebook (Prince Edward County Public Library & Archives) and Instagram (@peclibrary). Throughout November we’ll be posting video tours of the library’s community Makerspace to inspire you to come make something yourself!

If you have technology questions the library can help. Book a one-on-one appointment, held online through videoconferencing, over the phone, or physically distanced in person at the library. This means that we can’t actually touch your laptop or tablet, but we will direct you to solve any issues you might have yourself.

The members of the tech help team work at different branches of the library – David is normally in Picton, Aaron in Milford and Michele in Wellington. They have answered everything from “How do I get online?” to sophisticated questions about using CAD to design 3D objects to print on the library’s 3D printer. They are endlessly patient, and no question is too small or too obscure for them – if they don’t know the answer immediately they will find out for you. Book your appointment by email at or by phone (613) 476-5962.

If you don’t have internet access, remember that you can borrow a WiFi hotspot from the PEC Library! Borrow the device for seven days with your library card. Pick up and return to any branch of the Library. Planning ahead for a special event? Take the internet with you. The bookable hotspot can be scheduled up to four times per year with a loan period of up to seven days each time. Please note that you may not simultaneously have holds on both the standard and bookable WiFi devices. Aaron coordinates the workshops and loan of the WIFi devices. If you have questions or suggestions reach him by email or by phone (613) 476-4130.
