The goal is to raise $100,000, which will generate $200,000 to this campaign that will see signficant improvements and upgrades at the Carnegie-era Picton Branch.
The renovation will double the current library space without impacting its historic features, and will feature an enlarged children’s area, flexible quiet workspaces and meeting rooms, accessibility improvements and an efficient environmentally conscious design. It will also include an expanded collection with more DVDs, books, CDs to share with all branches.
The campaign is the perfect opportunity to make a donation in your name, or surprise a loved one this holiday season by donating a gift in their name.
“I am constantly humbled by the generosity of this amazing community that we live in”, said Fundraising Chair Alexandra Bake, “and never more so than at this time. The offer of $100,000 in matched funding will help ensure that our library expansion moves ahead very soon. I challenge our community to be as generous as they can this Christmas season, so that we can raise the full $200,000!”
To date $2,050,000 of the $2,800,000 fundraising target has been raised and the goal is to get shovels in the ground as soon as possible and start the new year with the beautiful library renovation and expansion underway. ] The Picton library has been serving the community for 112 years and your donation will ensure that the library will continue to enhance the lives of future generations.
