Volunteers are like Yachts. No matter where they are, they arouse your curiosity. Who are they? Where do they come from? Why are they here? They could stay moored where it’s safe and still justify their being, but they choose to cut through the tough waters, ride out storms and take chances. They have style. They are fiercely independent. If you have to ask them how much they cost, you can’t afford them. It frightens me somehow, to imagine what the world would be like without volunteers. THANK YOU.
The above is an excerpt from a piece written by famous columnist Erma Bombeck.
If you would like to be a volunteer please contact Community Care by calling 613-476-7493 or emailing email@example.com . We have volunteer opportunities for people of all ages doing a wide range of activities and with a variety of time commitments. During the lockdowns of this pandemic the Community Care volunteers and staff continued their efforts to help seniors live at home. When the lockdown lifts there will be even more to do. Please contact us today so we can start the conversation about finding just the right volunteer experience to match your time and talents.
Student Community Service Hours
Are you a student thinking about working on your required community service hours so that you can graduate from secondary school? All students in Ontario must have given 40 hours or they can’t get their Grade 12 diploma. Maybe your grandchild needs to begin this work. We have a need for some youthful hands to help the volunteers at our Thrift Shop. Call 613-476-7493 and find out more about this.
Curbside pick-up meal for seniors
The pandemic has caused us to change many procedures. For example, all deliveries of meals, books, groceries, etc. are now contactless for the safety of all concerned. Rather than having seniors gather to eat together at various locations in The County we now offer monthly curbside pick-up of the same great meals from the same great caterer. For pick-up on Tuesday, June 22nd you can order now to enjoy roast leg of chicken, potatoes, vegetables, Caesar salad, roll and apple pie all for $15.00/person. Call 613-476-7493 to order/pay by no later than Friday, June 18th. Note that there are changes for June: the date is a Tuesday; the pick-up location is in Wellington; and there’s now a maximum of 100 who can reserve. Oh, and, one more thing you should know: our caterers Bill & Marni are planning a “Christmas in July” menu! Orders for July aren’t taken until after June 22nd, though.
