Celebrate Seniors Month with a free ride to your vaccination appointment, a tasty roast leg of chicken meal, then watch Minister Cho on a webinar on a tablet you borrowed from the Library.
Oh, and book your foot care appointment so your nails are looking trimmed and ready for the hot weather in your sandals which you can wear when shopping at Community Care’s Thrift Shop. Sounds good? Read on.
Community Care can provide all seniors 60+ with a free ride to their vaccination appointment. Don’t let transportation be a barrier to getting your shot. We also provide rides at great rates to medical appointments and essential shopping. As for shopping we’ll help you order groceries online then we’ll pick up and deliver for free. We also deliver medicines, essentials and library books. If you borrow a tablet from the library we’ll deliver it to you as well (along with the internet stick).
There’s a new day and location for the curbside meal that Community Care has been holding monthly. This month the pick up location is at the Wellington United Church on Tuesday, June 22nd. Just like before, all meals must be ordered and paid for in advance ($15.00/person). Don’t miss out on the apple pie for dessert!
Call the office by Friday, June 18th. The other difference is a cap on the number of meals so call today. Only 100 are available. Community Care and the PEC Library have partnered to make tablets available for seniors to support connections with family and friends and to participate in online programming. Training and support for seniors will be provided by Libraries of PEC. For more information about the program or to borrow a tablet from the library call Prince Edward Community Care at 613-476-7493 or contact the Picton Library at 613-476-5962. Community Care’s Thrift Shop will reopen on Monday, June 14th at 1pm and regular hours will resume.
Donations of good used items will be accepted during regular hours of Mondays 1-4pm and Tuesday to Friday 10am to 4pm. The volunteers are ready to get going again and shoppers will find a full line of summer clothing for the whole family including shoes and accessories. For more info call the shop at 613-476-1555.
