Rising COVID cases in the community shutter Thrift Shop until Jan. 4

For many years Community Care was able to source free calendars for seniors and then a couple years ago we ran into issues finding any.

Since we’re not having people drop into the office during the pandemic we haven’t offered free calendars last year or this year. Let’s hope things settle down into a new normal and we can again offer calendars in December 2022. Fingers crossed!

One of the reasons, we’re told, that seniors really liked the one calendar in particular is because it had the cheque dates listed on it. You can find the OAS and CPP payment dates on the Federal Government website at this link and click on “payment calendar”: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/calendar.html The 2022 payment dates have already been posted on the government website. Here they are below! You can either clip this column or write the dates on your own calendar. Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security payment dates for 2022 – January 27, March 29, April 27, May 27, June 28, July 27, August 29, September 27, October 27, November 28, December 21. Veteran disability pension payment dates for 2022 – January 28, February 25, March 30, April 28, May 30, June 29, July 28, August 30, September 28, October 28, November 29.

Out of an abundance of caution, Community Care has decided to cancel Foot Care Clinics in Picton & Wellington until January 4, 2022. All staff will work from home offices until that date as well. The office at 74A King Street is closed. Messages will be returned so please call 613-476-7493 and leave a detailed message.

As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the region we also decided that closing the Thrift Shop is in the best interest of keeping volunteers, customers and donors safe. The difficult decision has been made to close Community Care’s Thrift Shop at 153 Main Street until Tuesday, January 4th, 2022. This also means no donations will be accepted at this time. We appreciate your support and patience and look forward to seeing volunteers, customers and donors in the new year.
