Seniors find that good nutrition is an important factor in helping them remain independent and able to live at home in the community.
Prince Edward Community Care volunteers have been delivering Meals on Wheels throughout The County since 1980. We have had many meal suppliers over the years but the stalwarts have been the H. J. McFarland Memorial Home for the Aged and Hallowell House Long-term Care Home. These two facilities have been preparing Meals on Wheels for Community Care since the program began in 1980. Our other two providers are Bill and Marni Grieve of The View and Debbie of Darlin Debbie’s Restaurant in Rossmore. We are committed to providing hot Meals on Wheels to clients throughout Prince Edward County. As a complement to our hot Meals on Wheels program we have been offering frozen meals for over 20 years.
Clients are able to choose their favourites from a menu of over 40 entrees. These frozen meals are delivered twice a month. There is no limit to the number of meals a person can order. Most people order 10-20 meals each month. Community Care has wonderful volunteers who deliver Meals on Wheels rain or shine, through sleet and snow, 365 days of the year, even on Christmas Day and other holidays. These caring volunteers will stop at nothing to get those meals delivered. A special thank you goes out to each and every one of you. To refer someone for Meals on Wheels or to receive the meals for yourself call Community Care at 613-476-7493.
