After public disapproval from the owners of Lake on the Mountain Resort and some public outcry after the changes made to parking at the famed resort/provincial park on County Road 7, the issue is being revisited by way of a virtual public information centre (PIC) on Monday, January 31 at 7 p.m.
The purpose of the PIC is to seek public input on a report completed by the Ainley Group regarding a pedestrian and traffic review of the contested roadway in front of the resort and park.
Of note, the PIC is intended to be an informative meeting, wherein the public is presented with the findings in the report. No decisions will be made. As per the County, questions or comments from the public will be permitted. after the presentation.
A copy of the review will be posted on the County website and shared on the municipality’s Facebook and Twitter accounts next week.
Following the PIC, municipal staff will consider public feedback in conjunction with the findings from the Ainley Group in order to prepare a report. The report will contain recommendations on the issue and be presented to council at a meeting in February or March.
The parking changes were instituted in early summer 2021 and by August of the same year, Council directed staff to prepare a report that includes a technical evaluation of pedestrian and vehicle safety in the Lake on the Mountain area. The municipality undertook this work in response to concerns about parking restrictions on the public roadway in this area.
Those who wish to attend the public meeting must register by 12 pm on Friday, January 28 by contacting Aynsley Osborne at aosborne@pecounty.on.ca
The meeting will be held virtually on Zoom. Questions about accessing Zoom meetings can be answered by contacting Aynsley Osborne at the email above.
