Online Zoom Classes & “Socials for Seniors” are held Mon.-Fri. Join in at 10:30am for fitness, and in the afternoons at 2 p.m. for arts & socials. Seniors without a computer can join online Zoom webinars via the telephone.

This month the Zoom Webinar topics include the continuance of a 12 week “Falls Prevention Program” with Skye Schwieg, Registered Kinesiologist for VON; “How to Use a Password Keeper” with Julie Lane-Yntema, Technology Resourse Centre Coordinator for the Prince Edward County Public Library; “Flashback February – Heritage Week in The County” with Peter Lockyer, Founder and President of History Lives Here Inc. The cost is only $15.00/meal and seniors 60+ can order by calling the Community Care office at 613-476-7493. All meals must be paid for in advance. Meals will be packaged hot and ready to be picked up at noon at The View Restaurant at the Picton Golf Club. Only those who preorder and pay by February 18th can be served. To order call 613-476-7493.

The Community Care income tax volunteers will are getting ready to complete 2021 income tax returns for seniors who live in Prince Edward County. Volunteers have been trained by Canada Revenue Agency to complete Income Tax Returns for eligible clients. Hold onto your papers because we don’t start until March 1st each year. By then everyone should have all the papers needed to do your income tax. We use the CRA eligibility for this program: a senior 60+ whose single income is $35,000 or lower or a couple whose household income is $45,000 or lower, you may be eligible for help through this program.

During COVID we developed a safe drop off/pick up program for seniors who want to get their income tax done. For people who can’t easily drop off their papers at the office we’ll even come to your home and pick up your information and then drop it off when it’s done.
