Full slate of March Break activities planned

The County of Prince Edward Public Library & Archives has an exciting schedule of in person and online events for children this March Break!

The week’s fun begins with Mindful Movement Kids Yoga at the Wellington Branch on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:30 a.m. Join us for a yoga adventure through, breathing exercises, yoga poses, meditation, and creative movement.  Later at the Picton Branch Library, at 2 p.m. bring your Rubik’s Cube or borrow one to work on your strategy for solving the classic puzzle. You can join the Rubik’s Cube strategy session online if you prefer.

On March 16, at 11:30 a.m. the Wellington Branch Library will be full of bears…teddy bears! Bring your favourite stuffed friend and listen to a story, and then decorate a tshirt for the bear using fabric paints. At 2 p.m., the Picton Branch Library will welcome you to come design a tshirt for your teddy bear, and we will bring the design to life using the library vinyl cutter.

On Thursday, March 17, at 11:30 a.m. artist Angela Jane Lavender will share her skills in a “paint night” in the morning. $15 per person includes all supplies. At 2 p.m., a virtual bake off will allow you to show off your hand pie baking skills.

Rubik’s Cube fans can bring their skills to The Great Rubik’s Cube challenge on Friday, March 18 at 2 p.m. Join virtually or in person at the Picton Branch. Saturday we’ll close out the week with a bang – literally! Mystic Drumz will join us at the Bloomfield Town Hall at 10:30 a.m.. Free tickets can be reserved at peclibrary.org or at any branch of the library. Come join the fun on this fabulous musical adventure to find Marshmallow Island. Meet all the hilarious characters who colour the show with a splash of silly. This Adventure in World Music blends multicultural music themes and interactiveaudience participation! Featuring incredible sound effects and eclectic instrumentssourced from around the world. Bring the whole family to laugh and learn together as we track down ‘The Legend of Marshmallow Island’. Children are encouraged to create art pieces in response to the question, “What does Prince Edward County mean to you?”, and turn them in to the Wellington Branch to receive a surprise bag of activities.

The Milford Branch will have take home Lego kits you can keep with Lego challenges and the Ameliasburgh and Consecon Branches have seed kits so children can get growing. March Break is a great time to take the 1000 Books before Kindergarten challenge or to join the Impressive Reader Society!
