Community Care offers over 50 events each month for seniors 60+ online, by telephone, and planning is underway to resume in-person programming.
The low annual membership fee of $25 has been reinstated as of April 1, 2022. Online Zoom fitness and arts classes along with socials are held Monday to Friday.
For the month of April the Zoom webinar topics include: “Dementia Friendly Communities & Finding Your Way” with Jen Loner, Public Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward; “Addressing Financial Concerns for Seniors” with Kevin Maynard, VP and COO for the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education; “Brain Health” with Jen Loner, Public Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward; “It Is Never too Late to Learn” with Tiffany Crowe, Education and Training Advisor for Contact North; “Spring into Healthy Eating” with Sarah Sandham, Registered Dietitian for the Prince Edward Family Health Team. Community Care volunteers will complete 2021 income tax returns for seniors who live in Prince Edward County. If you are a senior 60+ whose single income is $35,000 or lower or a couple whose household income is $45,000 or lower, you may be eligible for help through this program. Volunteers have been trained by Canada Revenue Agency to complete Income Tax Returns for eligible clients. Volunteers do not complete income tax and benefit returns for: deceased persons; resident of Long-term Care homes; bankrupt individuals; for those with more than $1,000 of investment income; for individuals with capital gains/losses; or for people with business or rental income and expenses. Meal for seniors April 28
We’re continuing the popular monthly curbside pick-up of meals. It’s a week later in April due to parking lot work at the Golf Club. Chef Bill Grieve of Wheelhouse and Occasions catering is preparing a scrumptious meal of homemade soup, baked ham, potato, vegetable, roll and strawberry shortcake for dessert. The cost is only $15/meal and seniors 60+ can order by calling the Community Care office at 613-476-7493. All meals must be ordered /paid for by April 25th.
