CALDER, John

John Calder – Peacefully, on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at the age of 89. Our father John was born in Barrie in 1932 and grew up during the depression and later World War II. He in turn joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for twenty years during the Korean and Cold Wars until he retired from the Armed Forces in 1971. He brought his family of five children to Port Perry in 1973 where he remained for the rest of his life other than to travel the world whenever he could with his beloved wife Helen to visit family and friends wherever they might be. Following his retirement from the military he went on to work as an electronics technician and electrician. Dad finally retired for good in 1998 to pursue his passion of rock and mineral collecting with his great friend Bob Becket and to enjoy his ever increasing family. Dad was deeply loved and is survived by Keith and Mary Francis Calder, Michelle Calder and Anthony Ciceralla, Duniece and Cal Camplin and Dulande and Scott Joaquin. Loving Grandfather to Christipher, Jesse, Brooke, Michael, Kevin, Samuel, Shannon, Madeline, Gabrielle, Devin, Alicia and Michael, and  Great Grandfather to James, Connor, Noelle and Brendan. He was predeceased by his wife Helen, his son Chris Calder, his brother Ken and his sister Margaret. A celebration of John’s life will be held at the Wagg Funeral Home in Port Perry in early May. The date and time will be announced shortly to enable as many family and friends to attend as possible. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
