Active Living Fair to be held virtually starting Oct. 4

The fall is upon us and that means it’s time for another Seniors Active Living Fair!

You may be picturing a large space where vendors have set up booths to share information, maybe to try and sign you up for a future event or to spark your interest in their services. You may also be picturing the bag of goodies, or “swag” that you could walk away with, perhaps you will be the big winner of a door prize! Vendor fairs have always been a fun and convenient way to learn about a wide range of services, organizations, and opportunities all in one place.

If you have participated in The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association Active Living Fair in the last couple of years you will know that there is another way to experience all the elements of a traditional vendor fair. This is a reference, of course, to a virtual fair! As with so many things since the start of the Pandemic, the virtual world has been a great alternative to large events where people can have experiences and connection from the comfort and safety of their own homes. This year the Active Living Fair will again be held virtually.

It will begin on Tuesday, October 4th and continue every Tuesday and Wednesday from 1PM- 2PM until December 21. It’s open and free to anyone 60+.

Two times a week a different exhibitor will give an hour long Zoom Webinar that will include time for Q&A.. There’s a chance to see all 24 presentations and learn about a wide variety of services and topics that are important to seniors and can help support living at home and staying active in the community. Attendees receive a Swag Bag and a chance to win a fabulous door prize. This format of Fair provides a unique opportunity to receive an in-depth presentation from each exhibitor and to be able to give your full attention without the worry of fitting everything into one day.

We look forward to the day we can hold the big event once again but, in the meantime, the ability to learn each week over three months and to tune in from home allows for flexibility and keeps us all safe. All seniors are welcome to participate. No membership is required.
