After being acquitted of similar charges earlier this year, a local man has been charged with stealing cash from local self serve farm stands.

The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) announced they have laid charges in relation to multiple thefts of cash from farm stands throughout the County. During the months of August and September 2022, Prince Edward OPP received multiple reports of money being stolen from farm stands within the community.

The Community Street Crime Unit was engaged and on Sept. 28, 2022, at approximately 12:00 p.m. an arrest was made in relation to the occurrences. Andrew Frost, 44, from Deseronto, has been charged with eight counts of theft under $5,000 and for possession of break in instruments.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on November 16, 2022.

Frost was charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 in the fall of 2021 but was acquitted at trial in the Ontario Court of Justice this summer.

The investigation is continuing. Any person with information or who may have recently been a victim of a similar theft is requested to contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222- 8477
