Seniors’ Active Living Fair continues

Seniors Active Living Fairs help to connect seniors and their caregivers with others in their community.

These fairs help seniors learn about key issues that affect their health and well-being. In 2018-19, about 70 such fairs were held across the province. The fairs were held in-person of course because that’s how things were done before the pandemic. Prince Edward Community Care held Active Living Fairs for seniors in both 2018 and 2019. These events were in Wellington and hundreds of seniors attended. We had to move our fair online because of the pandemic.

The 2022 Seniors’ Active Living Fair is online for the safety of all concerned.

This virtual fair extends over the months of October, November and December. There are 2 events per week with great guest speakers on wonderful topics of interest to seniors. This free Seniors’ Fair is designed to promote active healthy living, social engagement, partnerships, independence, learning, and reduce social isolation, for seniors, their families and caregivers. All seniors 60+ are most welcome to attend the webinars and it’s easy to register. Just call the office at 613-476-7493 and we’ll send you the details on a regular basis. You just need to register for the Fair, not for each event. You also don’t need to be a member of our Active Living Programs to attend these great zoom events. All Fair participants receive a “swag bag” of information, goodies and other items you just don’t want to miss.

Each of the Fair webinars will conclude with a “door prize” which will go to one of the participants at the event. We have some great things to give away thanks to our speakers! Don’t be sad if you don’t have a device and internet. Community Care provided 10 devices to the Library so that they can loan them out to seniors. They do more than that, too! The library staff will show you how to use the device and they’ll provide an internet stick, too. You’ll be able to log into the Seniors’ Active Living Fair events.

Did you know that all residents of The County have free access to the library. Don’t delay, call the library today at 613-476-5962 and get started. Call the Community Care office for more information about the Fair at 613-476-7493 or check the Activity Calendar on the website at www.communitycareforseniors.org.
