The Picton Gazette, first published as The Hallowell Free Press in 1830, is Canada’s oldest weekly newspaper. It rebranded as The Picton Gazette in 1836. It was purchased by Earl and Jean Morrison in 1977 and remains family owned and independent. The Picton Gazette is published every Thursday, focusing on the local news of Prince Edward County.
On October 26, 2017 we launched our digital edition to fulfill the community's need for an online publication that offers our readers timely access to breaking news stories and added exposure for our advertisers to reach potential customers.
