This two-day, 6 hour workshop invites participants to bring a text (their own or a found text) and to explore its articulation in space and on the page. Part 1 will focus on playful writing, drawing, and printing exercises to transform the text, and will be inspired by historical and contemporary examples of non-traditional bookmaking. In part 2, a few book forms will be introduced and participants will design a book and integrate their text into the finished work. No prior drawing, bookbinding, or printmaking experience is necessary, however this workshop is suitable for participants with previous experience who want to explore new ways of using text in their practice or who are interested in exploring expanded book forms.
Age range – 18+
