Doris Hannah Annie Wilkins

February 17, 1928 - October 28, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of Doris Wilkins (née Sheppard) announces her peaceful passing on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the age of 96. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her children: Gail Beatty (the late Gary), Wendy Sheppard, Karen Matthews (Bob), Vicki Goulah (Carl), and was predeceased by John Goulah. She will also be dearly missed by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ray Wilkins. Born in Shawville, Quebec, Doris began her early career as an au pair in Ottawa. A memorable photograph captures her as a teenager, joyfully covered in ticker tape, celebrating the end of World War II. She later worked as a secretary in Toronto before dedicating herself to raising her family of five in Tweed, Ontario. Doris was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by those in the congregation. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the management, staff and residents of Normandy Retirement Living for their support and kindness. Doris cherished her time there, especially loving the great blue sunroom. A Service to Celebrate Doris’ Life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 3 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 115 Joyce Street, Kingston.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Normandy Retirement Residence or the Canadian Cancer Society.
