Evelyn Agnes Ward

1928-2024

Entered into rest on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024 at Hallowell House Nursing Home, Picton, in her 91st year. Evelyn was the loving wife of the late John (Jack) Ward. She was the daughter of John (Jack) and Agnes Wightman of Owen Sound and predeceased by sister Jenny Fillman of Peterborough. Evelyn was the loving mother of Jack (Brenda) Ward of Casey Road, Rosemary (Ward) Spurrell and Ches of Plainfield, Pat Ryan (late Jerry) of Picton, Carol Stevens of Wellington, Robert and Wendy Ward of Verona and June Ward of Kingston. Evelyn was predeceased by her sons Vaughn Melvin Long and Ross Long. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Dana and Jake Stevens, Teresa Brown, Todd Spurrell, Wendy Gibbons, Jamie Ward, Rick and Johnny Storms and Emily, Zachery and Adam Murphy and her great grandchildren James, Thomas, Drake, Elizah and Jade.

Our family would like to express many thanks to all the wonderful staff and Hallowell House for their excellent care while mom was there. One of their memories will likely be Evelyn always wanting her red lipstick on, nails painted and necklaces.

Evelyn spent her earlier years 1950’s-1960’s, working at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto and had wonderful memories of meeting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Elvis Presley and several other musicians as well. Her later years were spent working at the H.J. McFarland Long Term Care Facility as a Food Supervisor until her retirement in 1993.

At Evelyn’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no service. At a later date there will be a Celebration of Life for family. Memorial Donations may be made to the Hastings Prince Edward Addictions and Mental Health Services (www.cmhahpe.ca)
