Frank Westerhof passed away on July 30, 2026 at the age of 93 surrounded by family.Frank arrived in Canada from the Netherlands with his parents and brothers. It was in his new adopted country that he met a girl, Nellie DeGroot, married March 17^th, 1956 and settled down to raise six children. Although not his first vocation, he was determined to build a steady life farming beside his father. Not long after taking over the farm entirely, Frank became a single father when his beloved Nellie lost her battle with cancer. Through the years, his family grew with the addition of sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A lifelong learner, Frank was always seeking new challenges spanning from serving as a cadet leader, deacon, and church elder, to participating in local politics as a councillor and deputy reeve, to riding a bicycle from Vancouver to Halifax as part of a Sea-to-Sea Ride at the age of 72.
Later in life, he found another “girl” who brought joy to his life. Ruth and Frank married October 20^th, 1999 and along with Ruth came nine stepchildren and an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Frank was predeceased by his parents Jakob and Beitske Westerhof, first wife Nellie DeGroot, brothers John and Henry, stepson Douglas, sons-in-law Alan and Dennis, and grandson Simon. He is survived by his wife Ruth; brothers Leo (Helen) and Walter (Helen); children Debbie (Doug), Alida (Susan), Elizabeth, Jacob (Louise), John (Henrieke), and Emily; stepchildren Dick (Sharon), Sylvia (Gerrit), Jane, Audrey, Nettie (Art), Caroline, David (Wilhelmina), and Bruce (Nancy); many nieces, nephews, and friends; and countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren from his blended family, whom he loved and adored.

Friends visited with the family on Tuesday, August 4^th from 6pm to 8pm at the Ainsworth Funeral Home, 288 Noxon Avenue, Wellington. Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 5^th at 11am at Bethany CRC, 158 Main Street, Bloomfield immediately followed by a luncheon. Interment Christ Church Cemetery, Hillier.
