Ruth Bernice Bentley

August 18th, 1929 - April 7th, 2024

As the Sun Rose on April 7th, 2024 at 6:05 a.m., Ruth Bernice Bentley nestled in Katie’s arms, holding hands and watched their sunrise for the last time together. Ruth was the loving wife of Merton (Predeceased). Loving Mom to Margaret (predeceased), Elmer (Pat), Mary, Katie, and David. She was the proud grandmother to 16, great-grandma to 25, and very proud great, great grandma to Erin Leigh (born April 6th, 2023). Predeceased by Matthew and Erin. Sister of Doug and Linda who spent so much time with Mom and I, visiting frequently. We felt their love and support so much, brother Richard and Evelyn. Predeceased by Bob, Joe, Ted, Dorothy, George, John and Sharon. Mom and Dad spent many years with their friends Ken and Brenda Minaker, who were like my other Mother and Father (Elmer their son), Jimmy and Marg Hicks, and so many more to mention, travelling on their boat through the locks to the Thousand Islands. Ruth enjoyed the many adventures with Katie going to yard sales, Costco runs, and drives. We loved the group “The Reasons” and went to Wellington Park to enjoy them play. I’m am so incredibly blessed to have shared so much time with both Dad and Mom. Moms evenings where her favourite time, knowing the phone would ring and she could hear her Grandson Eathan’s voice. Every night he called and they shared their day. Then it was Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy together. I couldn’t have done this had it not been for the amazing love & support of my uncle Doug and aunt Linda, my amazing cousins Ricky and Sue, and cousins Bev and Dave. Thank you Miranda , Jamie, Devi, my sweet Mandi, Ian, Dr. Walman, and Jamie, Brad Dunn, Becky, Nancy, Stephanie &  Elna. What a privilege it has been to share the time with Dad, Mom, and my amazing daughter. I’m truly blessed. A Graveside Service will be held at Cherry Valley Cemetery (1699 County Road 10, Cherry Valley), on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Following the Graveside Service everyone is welcome to join the family at Ruth’s home in Picton (98 Campbell Crescent), for a time of fellowship.
