Ruth Elizabeth Cooper

May 9, 1934 - January 19, 2026

Peacefully entered into rest at Hospice Prince Edward, on Monday, January 19, 2026, Ruth Cooper (nee Mowbray) of Picton, died at the age of 91.  Daughter of the late Ernest & Edith Mowbray (nee Farr) and beloved wife of the late Bruce.  Loving mother of Donna Cooper (late Greg Silva), Terry Cooper (Teresa), Bonita Plater (Greg), Bradley Cooper (Debbie), Denise Reynolds (Eric), Darlene Dulmage (Alan), and Tanya Cooper.  Lovingly remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Survived by her sisters Nellie Creasy and Joyce Tolley.  Predeceased by her siblings Pat Mowbray, Marion Preston, Roy Mowbray, Doris Mather, Harold Mowbray, Gladys Thompson, Lois Guernsey, and Margaret Gardner.  Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended families and many friends she made through the Picton Golf & Country Club, the Prince Edward Curling Club, and the Bridge Club at Picton Elks.   Bruce & Ruth were long and integral members of Picton United Church, assisting with fundraisers and fish dinners.  Ruth will be remembered for her strength, resilience, generosity and volunteerism with the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary – Lunch Counter. In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no services held, cremation has taken place.   Ruth wished to be remembered in other’s hearts as she knew them during her many years of friendship and service.  If desired, donations to the Picton United Church Food Bank or Hospice Prince Edward would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Rushnell Funeral Homes – Picton Chapel, 33 Main Street (613-476-2450).  Online condolences at: www.rushnellfuneralhomes.com
