School breaks are always an exciting time at the County of Prince Edward Public Library, and the upcoming March Break is no exception.  In addition to the regularly scheduled 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning baby time, Friday morning Toddler Time and Saturday morning storytime at the Picton Branch, there are a number of special programs you are welcome to attend.

Climate is a hot topic. Author Peter Christie will discuss his book 50 Climate Questions on Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at the Picton Branch Library.  An award-winning journalist with master’s degrees in both journalism and biology, Peter writes about conservation, climate change and other pressing issues in environmental science. This presentation will be best for ages 8+.

On Tuesday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m., join us at the Bloomfield Branch Library for tea and tales. We’ll read fancy stories, create sparkly crafts and enjoy some tea (otherwise known as water or apple juice). That same day, older children can drop by the Picton Branch at 1 p.m. to try out some of the Musical Instruments available to borrow from the library.

On Wednesday, March 13, we’ll host “Sing-a-long with Halliday and Alex” from Music Together PEC at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to join the musical fun, sing and dance and play. Later that afternoon, explore all things manga and anime at 1 p.m., best for ages 10+. We’ll even have some Japanese treats to try.

A special two-day program at the Wellington Branch Library will spread over March 13 and 14.  Create a Claymation character and storyboard, record and film a short movie. Registration is required at peclibrary.org or by phone (613) 399-2023.

On Thursday, March 14, try your skill at a robot race from 1 to 2 p.m. and try to get Dash, the robot, out of the maze and get the Sphero robot through an obstacle course.  No robotics experience required.  Join us for a robot storytime at the Wellington Branch at 10:30 a.m.  on Friday, March 15 and build a bot paper crafts, and a robot dance party.  Play giant checkers, inflatable bowling and more on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.

On Saturday, March 16, members of the South Shore Joint Initiative will join us for a special storytime all about winter animal tracks at 10:30 a.m.  at the Picton Branch.

Throughout the entire month of March you can drop by the Milford Branch Library to play active games during open hours.  Pick up the complete schedule of activities at any branch of the library or visit peclibrary.org.
