A former volunteer at Hospice Prince Edward (HPE) will now be in the newly created role of Community Development Director starting April 6, 2020.

Melanie Dailey will be joining Hospice following a 15-year career providing exemplary leadership and strategic consulting services to Scout Environmental for the retail and not-for-profit sectors.

“Melanie has demonstrated her affinity for Hospice as one of our dedicated volunteers for about three years now,” said Peter Matthewman, President of the Hospice Prince Edward Foundation. “We’re delighted that she’ll be contributing her skills and experience to our team full-time.”

Dailey’s key to success has been her ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholder groups, galvanize action, and build collaborative relationships that last.

Dailey, who will be reporting to the HPE Board of Directors, will be responsible for community and stakeholder relations, fundraising strategy and events, and will also provide some operational oversight.

“It’s an honour to be given this opportunity to serve Hospice and my community,” said Dailey. “Hospice provides vital services in Prince Edward County and I am committed to ensuring that the organization thrives.”

HPE is a non-profit, non-denominational charitable organization that provides quality of life, dignity in death and grief and bereavement support for all those living with or affected by a life limiting illness.

HPE residential hospice has served over 300 residents since opening in 2013 and an additional 400 families have benefited from their Visiting Volunteers, Caregiver Support Groups, and Grief and Bereavement services.

Under normal circumstances the community would be invited to meet Dailey at Hospice, unfortunately these are not normal circumstances.
