Spring has sprung in Prince Edward County, and along with it, “spring-cleaning” fever.

Spring promises a fresh start: garage and yard sales are popping up on lawns and in driveways, people are cleaning out their closets for donation and raking their yards of the sticks and leaves left from the fall.

But one spring-cleaning task that is often overlooked is refreshing those tech skills.

The Technology Resource Centre of the Prince Edward County Public Library is a resource open to anyone and everyone.

Whatever tech query you may have, we will do our absolute best to help.

Options include walk-in appointments (availability depending), scheduled one on one appointments, and of course, our regular technology workshops.

This spring and summer we are thrilled to be offering some refreshed and many brand new technology workshops for our community.

We are starting the spring session off with a workshop on Security Strategies for Windows and Mobile OS on May 22nd, at 10:30 am.

In this refresher workshop, attendees will learn how to identify and secure their computer or mobile device and protect their information against malicious software.

If you’re of a digitally creative mind and would like to learn how to market yourself, your business, or are just curious about digital marketing strategies, you can check out our Creative on the Cheap Series in June and July.

There are four sessions as part of this series, and each will focus on a different free or inexpensive resource.

Topics include material from our original series which covered website design and creation, posters and flyers, but will also feature some new topics covering newsletters, and free design software and its applications.

Running concurrently with Creative on the Cheap, we have a second series that may appeal to those who want to make the most of their time online. We are offering three workshops between June and July using Google.

The first one centres around using Google as an effective search-engine, the second gives tips on some commonly used Google apps, and the third workshop gives a detailed explanation on getting the most out of Google Maps, for those who have the travel bug.

We are excited to be offering tech workshops throughout the summer, with more being planned for August and September than ever before, but we are always open to new topics.
