Earlier this month, in the Princess Margaret Ride to Conquer Cancer, Team Myderwyk raised nearly $70,000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre.
The Team, originally the Myderwyk family — father Hans and sons Jeff and Joe — has raised $440,000 over the last eight years by covering 19,000 kilometres via legpower for this worthy cause.
Since its beginning in 2008, the Ride to Conquer Cancer has raised $300 million in Ontario. This year’s total donations were over $20 million, raised by 5,000 riders.
This year’s Team Myderwyk consisted of Craig Wilson (Captain), Rob Garden, Hans Myderwyk, Chris Graham, Gregor Stuart, and Rob Legge. A seventh member, Neal Kadish, was unable to ride due to an injury.
The Ride started at Sherway Gardens in Toronto, and the destination on Day 1 was McMaster University in Hamilton (a 170 km ride). On Day 2, the team headed to Peller Estates Winery in Niagara on the Lake, an easier 100 km ride.
The Team will participate again next year.
